When it comes to needing to transport a vehicle, sometimes it can be hard to figure out some of the specifics along the way. Sure, there are some guides out there, but few of them are truly comprehensive. Today, we’re looking to change that.
The thing about car shipping is that no matter where you’re looking to move a vehicle to and from, there are going to be some steps you’ll want to tackle along the way. Here in Nevada, it should work pretty much the same as any part of the country. It just so happens that Las Vegas car transport is quite popular, so there’s a pretty big market for it!
If you’d like to learn more about why that’s the case, as well as ways you can save some money along the way, then you’ve come to the right place. While it can be hard to get everything in order, hopefully this can serve as a resource for you as you make your plans!
One: Consider Shipping during the Off Season
Have you ever heard of seasonal pricing? If not, then it’s probably something that you’ll want to be aware of in your stratosphere. The thing is, pretty much every industry is impacted by it – and car transport is no exception to that.
Generally speaking, the “off” season is considered to be the latter half of the year. Autumn and winter are what we usually think of here, with winter being the time when prices are generally lower (except around the holiday season, of course). If you are intending to transport a car, it may be worth planning around the time of year when it’s inherently less expensive.
Two: Get Your Paperwork Figured Out Early
If there’s one thing that most of us are aware of, it’s that it’s hard to get things done without also having to fill out a ton of paperwork. Car transport isn’t exactly an exception to this, but thankfully there aren’t too many things that you’ll have to keep track of. One of the biggest things you’ll need to provide is your photo ID, which you can see some examples of here: https://dmv.nv.gov/idcards.htm.
As long as you’re able to provide a valid photo ID, whether it’s from Nevada or another state, then you should be set in terms of being the shipper. You may also need to provide the info of your buyer, so double check with your shipping company before you call it a job completely done.
That isn’t the only paperwork that you’ll want to get squared away, though. In addition to your own ID, you’ll also need to get relevant papers and documentation for the vehicle being transported. That could be anything from the registration details to proof of purchase or even proof of insurance. All of this is to reduce liability on both ends of the process.
Three: Wash Your Car
At first glance, this may seem a bit strange to recommend. However, there are a few reasons that you may want to either wash it at home (as you can see explained on this page) or make a stop at a nearby automatic car wash. For the exterior of the vehicle, it’s so that when a driver from the shipping company comes to pick it up, there won’t be any dirt or grime in the way of them doing a quick inspection.
For the interior of the car, though, it’s for more personal reasons. You probably won’t want to leave any of your belongings in the car, for one thing, especially if you’re selling it and sending it off to the buyer. Even if you aren’t transporting it for that reason, it’s a good idea to take your stuff out.
After all, even small items can increase the overall weight of your car. This will translate to costing you more money in the long run, so it’s in your best interest twofold to just do a quick sweep inside and ensure that there’s nothing unnecessary in there.
Four: Car Shipping is Worth the Cost
Our last tip and trick is kind of cheating, but we feel it’s important to get the message across anyway. The thing is, when you initially look at something like the cost of automobile transport, it’s easy to assume that you’d be better off driving yourself. This isn’t exactly the case, at least in most circumstances.
You see, because of how expensive gas is, we’ve started to see that transport costs will be less expensive than actually making that drive. Considering the prices here in Nevada and around the Las Vegas area, that likely isn’t very surprising to you. Hopefully, this guide has helped you understand why you may want to consider car shipping services next time you need to transport a car.
